Relay for Life of La Mirada/Whittier would appreciate community support for two upcoming fundraisers. Our local chapter of the American Cancer Society is dedicated to helping the community attack cancer. Through these fundraising efforts, we can make a difference. When we rally together in the fight against cancer, we can accomplish anything.

Relay for Life of La Mirada/Whittier Clothing & Shoe Drive Fundraiser

Please clean your closets for Relay for Life! Fall is almost here, and it is the perfect time for another “closet clean out” fundraiser! Relay for Life is collecting bags of gently used, unwanted clothes, shoes, and more. Help them by gathering any unwanted items from the list below. Spread the word to friends, family, and neighbors.

Please collect donations in tied, white kitchen trash bags (os similar size bag). Please no XL 40 gallon bags; they tend to be challenging to load. Mark your bags with “Relay.” Relay for Life’s goal is 500 bags and MORE – so start collecting today!

Drop off bags: Saturday, October 30th from 11 am – 3 pm.

Items Accepted

  • All clothing (new or gently used)
  • Shoes and sneakers (paired only)
  • Hats, gloves, and belts
  • Purses/bags
  • Totes/backpacks
  • Towels
  • Gently used sheets
  • Stuffed animals

Items Not Accepted

  • Hotel linens
  • Industrial textiles
  • Bulk uniforms
  • Bulk t-shirt logo wear
  • Mattresses and pet beds
  • Carpeting or area rugs
  • Fabric remnants
  • Luggage
  • Glass, electronics, or breakables
  • Please no wet or solid items

Craft Fair and Bake Sale

Please join Relay for Life to shop early for the upcoming holidays and enjoy some refreshments! The Relay teams will be selling homemade craft items and baked goods. They will also have raffle drawings and more information about the programs and resources available through the American Cancer Society. The proceeds from this sale go to the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life Lamirada/Whittier.

Saturday, Nov. 13th – Noon – 6 pm
Sunday, Nov. 14th – 9 am – 2 pm
