The City of La Mirada is making progress toward achieving the priorities of its Strategic Plan 2020. Significant advancements have been made and more of the Plan’s objectives will be achieved in 2019. Key achievements from the past year include:

The City adopted a balanced budget and maintains a healthy level of reserves.

Through community-oriented policing, La Mirada has one of the lowest crime rates in the region. Statistics for 2018 indicate a 9 percent reduction in crime.

Traffic signal improvements were completed along La Mirada Boulevard and additional upgrades on Rosecrans Avenue will be made to improve pedestrian and commuter safety.

Businesses continue to invest in La Mirada. Construction on a new UPS logistics and distribution facility is nearly finished. The facility will be one of the largest distribution centers in La Mirada. New eateries such as Chick-fil-A and Burger IM will be opening soon.

The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts recently replaced all of its original auditorium seats and upgraded the sound system. Partial funding for these improvements was received from a State of California grant.

The City will remain focused on achieving the priorities of the Plan by 2020. The Strategic Plan and a report highlighting the progress for 2018 is available on the City’s website.
